Sweden’s northern space hub

With an impact area twice the size of Luxembourg and over 67 years of aerospace experience, Kiruna has come to be one of the few places worldwide that offers a wide range of aerospace activities within a 45 minute radius: research, higher education, designing/building and testing space systems and payloads, launching of sounding rockets and stratospheric balloons as well as satellite management, to mention some.

On top of that, we are situated above the Arctic Circle and within the auroral oval, giving us several advantages for the aerospace community such as interesting space phenomena, vast restricted land and air space, frequent connection with polar orbiting satellites and favorable location to launch them into orbit. The latter will soon be realised through Spaceport Esrange.

Here, an interesting and active ecosystem of SMEs, industry, academia, and public partners unite to strengthen Europe’s sovereignty and leadership in access to space on European mainland.

We believe that together, ideas grow faster and better.
So join our space ecosystem today and let’s find out how.
